is the backbone and is often the key integral
part of a PACS system success & use. This
cost should be included and considered as
part of your PACS / RIS budget and aquisiton.

The most common and recommend communications
solutions that our customers require as
part of PACS is at minimum a 512 K / T-1
solution. This connection should be dedicated
and not shared by a T-1 phone line solution.
Although 512k is the minimum specified depending
on your volume of exams / communications
traffic you facility may require more or
redundant separate ISP Bandwith on a T-1
OR T-3 connection. Most often a full 1.5
/ T-1 will by far meet most diagnostic imaging
facilities and small hospitals communications
needs.
