Mammo Overview |

New
era in Breast Imaging
Mammography departments are undergoing a
revolution; new digital images are
opening the doors to departments that
are entirely paper and film-free. That
means no more tedious manual archiving
or time consuming retrieval of images
and journals, no more developing films,
carrying heavy magazines or hanging
films on light boxes. In this new work
environment, hospitals and departments
need a way to communicate, distribute
digital images and archive data. In
other words, they need a modern full
scale PACS, Picture Archiving and
Communication System.
The Sectra PACS for Breast Imaging is
the answer to all the above-mentioned
demands. Furthermore, it enables
communication and display of digital
radiology at referring departments such
as surgery, gynecology, radiotherapy
etc. One of the most important tasks for
the PACS system is to make the necessary
information available to the person who
needs it in an easy and convenient form.
The Sectra PACS workstations can display
all types of radiology images whereas a
stand-alone workstation is connected to
just one modality, which
limits the display to only that type of
images e.g. digital mammography images. |

example of the workflow with new
possibilities at a digital mammography
department. |
1.
Patient is registered in the RIS-system.
2. Patient list at the modality is
automatically
updated.
3. The patient is examined.
4. Examination at other modalities (e.g.
MRI and
Ultrasound).
5. Images are automatically transferred
to the
online PACS archive.
6. PACS archive with backup for highest
possible
safety.
7. Images are available for display at
any Sectra PACS workstation. |
8.
Dedicated multi modality PACS
workstation for
breast imaging. All types of images can
be displayed
according to radiologist's preferences.
The tools for
accurate and fast diagnosis are easily
accessible.
9. The referring physician have access
to the
images as well as the digital report. |
