| The dictation toolbar uses
standard icons for the functions Play,
Record, Stop, Pause, Insert-Overwrite,
Delete or insert selected segment, Fast Forward and Rewind.
The Play button will play the currently selected
audio clip. The Record button
will begin recording a dictation. When pressed,
a red circle will appear to the right of the
time progress indicator. This indicates that
PCCG PACS or RIS is currently recording. The
recording process can be Voice Activated
meaning that the recording will automatically
begin and stop whenever a sound is picked
up by the microphone.

To the left of the live recording indicator,
the Save Current Recording
icon shows up. Clicking this icon will save
the current recording. The recording will
be automatically named using the author's
Accession # and Date Stamp. If the recording
has been saved, clicking the Record
button will not overwrite, but will create
a new audio clip. If the current recording
is not saved, clicking Record
will overwrite it.
The Erase option will delete
the unsaved clip and begin recording a new
one. The Append option will
append the new recording to the end of the
existing clip. The Cancel
button will not create a new audio clip and
will leave the existing one untouched.
The Stop and Pause buttons
can be used anytime to halt the recording
or playing of an audio clip. The Fast
Forward or Rewind buttons can be
used to jump 5 seconds forwards or backwards
during the playback of a recording. The Progress
Indicator can be dragged forwards
or backwards to navigate through the playback
of a recording.
The tools found in the Dictation Toolbar
are compatible with the Phillips Speech
Mic or standard CPU speakers and microphone. The playback and recording options
can all be accessed using the tool.
