Stratford, CT, June 1, 2004
-- Dictaphone Corporation’s Healthcare
Solutions Group today announced significant
new enhancements to its PowerScribe® for
Radiology speech recognition application.
The PowerScribe solution brings substantial
productivity gains to physicians and cost
savings to the organization through the use
of highly accurate speech recognition software,
together with powerful radiologist self-documentation
tools. The PowerScribe solution has been shown
to dramatically reduce report turnaround time
and costs in even the most demanding radiology
environments.
PowerScribe Workstation Version 4.6 brings
a new level of usability to digital dictation
and speech recognition for radiology applications.
New features include a web architecture, which
is accessed through a browser-based user interface
for dictation, correction and system administration.
Users benefit from automatic client software
downloads and updates which offer efficient
utilization of IT resources.
"PowerScribe Workstation Version
4.6 was built from the ground up for radiology
reporting, now offering physicians the freedom
to dictate, self-complete recognized text,
and electronically sign reports from any Internet
connected PC, for ‘once-and-done’
control over the report creation process”
said Don Fallati, Senior Vice President,
Marketing and Strategic Planning, Dictaphone
Corporation.
Features such as Acoustically Train Word allows
users to improve recognition accuracy by training
problematic words and phrases that the system
does not routinely recognize correctly, which
will help to reduce dictation time for faster
turnaround. New features designed to reduce
radiologist dictation time include new Dictation
Shortcuts (PowerNormals) Viewer, which displays
both personal and system shortcuts for easy
insertion into documents, reducing the time
it takes to produce a report. Faster turnaround
is achieved by offering the radiologist the
choice of methods for using or creating a
shortcut, including voice command and “drop
and drag” capabilities.
As well as the PowerScribe system’s
present capability of using bar code scanning
to initiate a dictation secession, with the
new Version 4.6 users can select an examination
from a work list, which can be sorted by order
number, patient demographics, modality, or
examination, eliminating the need for a paper
requisition. |
